Lots happening at the Ashhurst Community Library Garden

If you've recently stopped by behind the Ashhurst Community Library, then you'll already know that our garden is growing strong! We've taken several more steps this September toward installing the permanent structures and planting trees.

With big thanks to Garden Coordinator Toni O'Brien and her family, the broken concrete has been cut and removed, making room for several new fruit trees, including one more feijoa, some citrus, and a plum. A team led by Aaron Roberts and Harvey Jones have also just put in three more garden beds in a well-attended hypertuffa workshop. That's them in the photo, plus volunteer Bev Swanson. We'll have lots of places to plant Spring veggies, hurrah!

If you haven't seen the garden yet, take a look behind the fence the next time you're around. Through slow and small steps, we're realising our plan, and it's beginning to look just fantastic and productive.
