Ashhurst Aquatic and Fitness Centre	Swimming lessonsBabies & Parents, Toddlers, Pre-School, School Age, Squad, Adults. We use the Total Immersion method of beautiful and graceful swimming: www.totalimmersion.net. Winter 2014 swim school from 3:00-5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.Swim and gym times for Winter 2014Monday to Friday: 6:30am to 10:00am; 5:30pm to 7:30pmSunday: 1:00pm to 5:00pmBirthday PartiesIf you wish to hold your child's birthday party at the pool you are most welcome to do so. The cost is $2.00 per child if you wish to do this during public swimming hours and we will supply balloons and table coverings for the group. We will have the tables and chairs set up for you and section off an area for your use.If you wish to book the whole pool for your child's party, we can take bookings for weekends from 10am to 11:30am. This would include the use of the small bouncy castle (if not out for repair), flotation devices and the Aqua Run (if not out for repair - 8 years and over) for the 25m pool. It will also include balloons, chip[pies, table coverings, serviettes and flags for the party. The cost is $90.00 and also includes an AA&FC staff member to help with supervising games in the pool and swimming. For more information ring us on 06 357 5583 of pool@ashhurst.netAqua Run and the Sausage - the Sausage is up at the pool on a Saturday and there is no charge for this. Ashhurst Art Explorers	Meets at: The Anglican Church Hall, Cambridge Ave., every Monday at 7:30 p.m.The Art Explorers are a group ranging from absolute beginners to experienced artists. There is no formal teaching: group members encourage each other and those with a bit more experience are very happy to offer advice and demonstrate their methods. Ashhurst Athletics Club	We run weekly meetings over the two summer school terms on a Tuesday night at Lincoln Park down Lincoln Street. We cater for 3 year olds up to 13 year olds and provide tuition and support in track and field activities.		View Map

There are social and competitive options including the Nationals which are held annually in June. Summer Club play is also available. National Fees are required on an annual basis. They are a part of a national network of over 170 Returned Services’ Associations each affiliated to the Royal New Zealand Returned Services’ Association.RSA help is available to eligible war veterans and their families whether or not they are RSA members, and to the wider New Zealand community. RSA is one of the largest voluntary welfare organisations in New Zealand. Above all, the RSA movement is committed to ensuring that every ex-serviceman and woman receives the pensions and other benefits to which they are entitled, whether or not they are members of a Returned Services’ Association.RSA in the Community: RSA plays a central role in community life and gives generous sponsorship to all kinds of community projects. Awahou Playgroup	Awahou Playgroup provides a place for parents and preschool children to meet on a regular basis. It is funded by the Ministry of Education. We meet at Awahou School on Wednesdays, from 9.30 a.m. to 12 noon, during the school terms. We aim to provide a range of educational activities to foster children's learning and development, along with a chance for parents/carers to get to know each other in an informal setting. The children have the opportunity to play in a child centered environment using a wide range of toys suitable for preschoolers. There is also an outdoor play area suitable for the under 5s, within the school boundaries. All parents and caregivers are encouraged to share actively in the organisation and running of our Playgroup.		View Map

Grove of the Four Dragons	This open-to-all, community-based grove gathers several times a year--especially at solstices and equinoxes--to bring people together to support one another's spiritual development, to build a sense of community, and to participate in ceremonies that honour the participation of humans in the natural world. The grove is led by Adrian Bill Phillips, a Druid Of the Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids. "Wild Bill" also offers Druidic services in a variety of other contexts, e.g. weddings, home and business blessings, naming ceremonies, and more.		View Map
Gumboots & Coffee	Meets on the last Wednesday of each month excluding January. A combination of visits to local homes & gardens: 10.00am- 12.00pm and visits to other gardens, nurseries or places of interest in other localities. Timeframe is dependent on distance away. Occasionally the group meets for purely social occasions including movies and walks.The group has an "email tree" of over 60 contacts that members regularly use for communicating amongst one another. Kids 'n Motion	Kids`n`Motion is a half hour Preschool music & movement programme which involves parents/caregivers participating with their children. The session incorporates singing, rhymes, action songs, use of musical instruments and creative free movement. The music session is followed by morning tea and a 1/2 hr free playtime allowing interaction for both parents/caregivers and children. Kids`n`Motion is held during term time at 9.45 at the Village & Valley Centre, access off Cambridge Avenue. There is no charge for attendance but a gold coin donation is appreciated.		View Map
LEAP, the Society for the Local Economy of Ashhurst and Pohangina, Inc.	LEAP currently runs the Ashhurst Community Market on the 2nd Saturday of every month, outside of winter. It is also piloting LOAVES, a complementary currency. LEAP welcomes new volunteers and new projects that are consistent with our mission to increase economic resilience in our local area. Manawatu Community Fruit Harvesting	Manawatu Community Fruit Harvesting works with tree-owners who have spare fruit or nuts on trees they are unable to pick for any reason and connects them with volunteers who are willing to pick the trees--leaving some with the owners if wanted--and then distribute the fruit for free to those who can use them.
