Victim Support	Victim Support is a community agency that offers 24-hour support to people who are affected by crime or trauma. Pohangina Valley Guide Club	For Girls aged 7- 14. Pohangina School Reserve	The group is a registered charity. The Pohangina School Reserve is a community recreational park available for use by families and community groups. It features 100 yr old restored school building & landscaped grounds including swimming pool, tennis court, playground, toilets & BBQ. Pohangina Art Group	An art group with a teacher available that meets weekly for painting & drawing. Palmerston North Community Patrol (incorporating Ashhurst area)	While Ashhurst residents are sleeping at night 2 members of Community Patrol are out in our marked vehicle patrolling the streets acting as eyes and ears for the Police taking some responsibility to help make our community a safe place in which to live and work. Volunteers are rostered to do a 4 hour shift approximately once a month. Members know they are doing a worthwhile service to the Community and get satisfaction knowing they are helping others. Manawatu Home Budgeting Service Inc.	The Ashhurst Service is an outpost of the Manawatu Home Budgeting Service Inc. The Ashhurst Service sees clients by appointment. Accommodation and facilities are currently provided by St Mary Magdalene Anglican Church, Cambridge Ave, Ashhurst. One on One Advice includes Rescue or Crisis advice and On-going support through regular contact. Sorry, our service does not undertake custodial budgeting – we do not take your money and pay your bills for you. We do offer free, confidential, non-judgmental budgeting assistance: Budget Work Sheet to support application for assistance to Work and Income; Cash flow sheet, allocating next income payment; Statement of Means to support Creditor negotiations to set up affordable payment arrangements; Advice and assistance relating to insolvency procedures: Summary Instalment Order, No Asset Procedure, Bankruptcy. Manawatu Community Fruit Harvesting	Manawatu Community Fruit Harvesting works with tree-owners who have spare fruit or nuts on trees they are unable to pick for any reason and connects them with volunteers who are willing to pick the trees--leaving some with the owners if wanted--and then distribute the fruit for free to those who can use them. LEAP, the Society for the Local Economy of Ashhurst and Pohangina, Inc.	LEAP currently runs the Ashhurst Community Market on the 2nd Saturday of every month, outside of winter. It is also piloting LOAVES, a complementary currency. LEAP welcomes new volunteers and new projects that are consistent with our mission to increase economic resilience in our local area. Kids 'n Motion	Kids`n`Motion is a half hour Preschool music & movement programme which involves parents/caregivers participating with their children. The session incorporates singing, rhymes, action songs, use of musical instruments and creative free movement. The music session is followed by morning tea and a 1/2 hr free playtime allowing interaction for both parents/caregivers and children. Kids`n`Motion is held during term time at 9.45 at the Village & Valley Centre, access off Cambridge Avenue. There is no charge for attendance but a gold coin donation is appreciated.		View Map
Gumboots & Coffee	Meets on the last Wednesday of each month excluding January. A combination of visits to local homes & gardens: 10.00am- 12.00pm and visits to other gardens, nurseries or places of interest in other localities. Timeframe is dependent on distance away. Occasionally the group meets for purely social occasions including movies and walks.The group has an "email tree" of over 60 contacts that members regularly use for communicating amongst one another. Grove of the Four Dragons	This open-to-all, community-based grove gathers several times a year--especially at solstices and equinoxes--to bring people together to support one another's spiritual development, to build a sense of community, and to participate in ceremonies that honour the participation of humans in the natural world. The grove is led by Adrian Bill Phillips, a Druid Of the Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids. "Wild Bill" also offers Druidic services in a variety of other contexts, e.g. weddings, home and business blessings, naming ceremonies, and more.		View Map

Awahou Playgroup	Awahou Playgroup provides a place for parents and preschool children to meet on a regular basis. It is funded by the Ministry of Education. We meet at Awahou School on Wednesdays, from 9.30 a.m. to 12 noon, during the school terms. We aim to provide a range of educational activities to foster children's learning and development, along with a chance for parents/carers to get to know each other in an informal setting. The children have the opportunity to play in a child centered environment using a wide range of toys suitable for preschoolers. There is also an outdoor play area suitable for the under 5s, within the school boundaries. All parents and caregivers are encouraged to share actively in the organisation and running of our Playgroup.		View Map
